I made this piece after seeing a complete lunar eclipse for the first time in 2024. The experience took my breath away and seemed to put everything in perspective. It's easy to get bogged down by ego and fear, but when the sky went dark, the air cooled, and the crickets started to sing, I felt so viscerally what it meant to be human and alive and in the moment with all of the living things around me. It felt like I was waking up. And it reminded me that the things we remember at the end of our lives aren't just the accomplishments, but also those moments of perfect stillness. Like seeing the universe come into alignment.
I hope this art reminds you to chase those sublime experiences. They're all around us when you look.
This is a matte print in archival ink on heavy cotton card stock with a pleasant texture
