What is HONEYLOCUST?
The honey locust (Gleditsia triacanthos) is a deciduous tree native to Central North America and horribly invasive everywhere else. HONEYLOCUST is a store selling unique art, home goods, and accessories. Everything here is designed by me, Margo, and distributed by myself or by the manufacturer (Like our blankets, for example, that are woven on demand in North Carolina and then shipped directly to you!)
Why is HONEYLOCUST?
I first decided to start selling my art in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. You know the one. I was living in South Carolina and delivering food in my car full time, struggling to decide what to name the venture that I hoped would help me stop delivering food in my car. While sitting in a shopping center parking lot waiting for orders to come in, multiple masks dangling from my rear-view mirror, a street sign caught my eye. Honeylocust Lane. It felt earthy, it felt visceral. It made me think of nectar dripping from flowers and prophets wandering the desert. That was the name.
Who is HONEYLOCUST*?
I make art and accessories for people who love curating their own personal style so they don’t have to chase trends through fast fashion. I want to reach people who love nature and care about protecting our environment. HONEYLOCUST is for people who want to surround themselves with human art that was made with passion and intention, not carelessly generated by artificial intelligence. Maximalists welcome, I want to make work that makes you feel something.
