Inspired by a few of the many ways the Gorgon Medusa of Greek mythology has been portrayed in ancient art, with my own artistic spin.
I have found some depictions feel ferocious and seem to have a protective energy to them like a gargoyle, while others show a tenderness and quiet strength. I chose to portray this version behind her snakes; she is the one being protected.
While she is the monster in many tellings of her story, Medusa has long been a figure representing a protective spirit for women and can also be seen donning warriors' shields. I want to honor that legacy here.

The piece is entirely stainless steel with 18K gold PVD plating. I chose these materials to make it hypoallergenic for the greatest number of people, but it has the added benefit of making the necklace waterproof!
